“We are colorful, playful, creative and quirky.”
“I want our wedding to feel rustic, bohemian and carefree, yet elegant.”
“I want to have a wedding that reflects our personality more than it follows tradition.”
These were the three lines that stood out to me in Sarah’s initial email when she reached out about my services. And it was these three lines where I knew I just had to get to know them and celebrate this season of life with them!! Most often I receive inquiries with little to no information, but Sarah was open about her expectations and up front about the kind of couple that she and Colin are.
After so many happy text exchanges and two engagement session reschedules, we finally had their engagement session last Friday and I have completely fallen in love with these two and how genuine they are! I could tell they were a little nervous about what to expect, but I just knew based on the first “hello” that my time with them would be effortless.
And it was.
They were themselves, which made everything so smooth!! Sarah once told me she can be awkward in front of the camera, but I never felt she was awkward at all. The two of them together were gentle, fun, openminded, curious and indeed quirky, colorful and playful. But one thing they were not was awkward. I felt like I was photographing two people I have met a million times before and having a couple like that in front of me is a direct reminder as to why I love what I do so incredibly much.
Colin and Sarah together are unique and special, and one thing that represented this physically was the ring on her left hand. The blue sapphire was simple yet spoke elegance, and its design is one of its own. One thing I love is seeing a ring so different from the normal, and one that speaks to the couple it resembles. I absolutely L O V E Sarah’s ring, and Colin if you are reading this, I hope you know you made the perfect choice!!!!
Their session was warm and glowy and though it was originally scheduled for March, I am extremely happy we waited because the evening was nearly perfect! Aside from the death clouds that loomed for a short while, but thankfully my luck stuck around and we ended the evening with sun! The Maple Hill Gardens served as a beautiful location. It was quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to let loose and enjoy the early summer air.
There’s nothing I could think of to have made this session any better, and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to finally meet these two in person!! I can’t wait for their bohemian inspired wedding in September, because I just know it’s going to be so magical!
Colin and Sarah, thank you so so much for meeting with me!!! I can’t wait to see you both again <3 Enjoy my many favorites from your session — it was too hard not to post every single image!!
