A Winter Wedding at Old Stone Church in West Boylston, Massachusetts
I can’t believe how quickly, yet not quickly at the same time, Nick and Courtney’s wedding day came!! It literally feels like we were just in Sugar Hill taking their engagement portraits and then bam!! I woke up on February 6th ready to get their day underway.
Rona was hard on these two. Their plans shifted by a good amount, and even though their guest list had to be minimal, they still made the best of their day and that…. That me that makes it so worth it!!
Due to the limitations in place, they came up with plan B and had their small gathering at Old Stone Church in West Boylston, which ironically was where I did an elopement last May with another couple of mine!! The area is spectacular and it accommodated their ceremony perfectly. Though let me tell you….. IT. WAS. FREEZING!!!
At a certain point with all the running around I do, I forget how cold it gets outside. They had the disadvantage of strong winds on the day which didn’t help the chilly weather at all, but every single person wore a smile on their face the entire time. I legit did not hear one person complain. Courtney and Nick powered through portrait time for nearly 4 hours out in the cold. Courtney’s bridal party wore gorgeous gowns with no extra layers and ROCKED it every second, though they were shivering. The guys all had a blast and were amazing at lending helping hands with everything throughout the day.
Which brings me to two people I want to give a shoutout to!! I want to shoutout to one of Nick’s groomsmen who just had a baby THREE DAYS before the wedding AND drove OVERNIGHT from Pennsylvania to stand beside his best friend on his big day. THEN…. He turned around and drove back home. What an incredible man!! Also, shoutout to Jake who was just a big help all around! I never saw him skip a beat to help out Courtney and Nick, and he even was such an incredible help to me when portrait time was in crunch mode!!
All in all, Nick and Courtney’s day was perfect. Nick… bless his soul… shoveled the entire path (which was NOT a small path!!) for guests to make their way to ceremony site. By the end of it, he had a blister on his ring finger but thankfully, his ring still went on!! And KUDOS to him for even thinking to shovel a “dance floor” for them, where they shared their first dance right as the sun was starting to go down. The way Courtney smiled at Nick during that moment alone was so heartwarming. And I am so thankful that I got to be there to support and celebrate them on their very much deserved day.
To you both, your families and your sweet friends… thank you for having me!! I know we worked in overdrive to get these photos, but I hope you enjoy them just as much as I have ❤️
