Marissa + Brandan | A Mountain View Engagement Session | Sugar Hill, New Hampshire

I am over the moon with this blog for so many reasons!!

My job goes beyond just showing up, taking pictures, going home and sending them off. For me, it’s about building relationships with the people I serve, and creating an experience that they are comfortable with.

Marissa let me know even before they booked their engagement session with me that they were looking for a photographer who could capturing their journey through life, starting with their engagement, their wedding, and then eventually more milestones as they come. Getting messages like that make my heart incredibly happy, because I know that they are the ones who value my work and are willing to gain a new friend, too. Not just a photographer. And that is priceless to me!!

Hanging with Brandan and Marissa during their engagement session was so easy. Seeing the natural pull between them, her incredible smile and his heart eyes made my heart beam!! They are so in love, and watching them interact and the way they lit up when they spoke about their future was such a joy.

My favorite part of the session was hearing them retell their proposal story!! Brandan had been secretly meeting with his jeweler to design and create Marissa’s ring, but the entire time he was throwing her off by saying he “had to go to Lowe’s for some supplies,” and even though he would really be going to the jeweler, he would stop at Lowe’s just to send a snapchat as proof he was at Lowe’s and throw her off!!

When the ring was ready, he wanted to propose at the Kancamangus, but the day they had planned a trip, it was SUPER busy and there wasn’t a good time to make the move without too many people around. Defeated on not finding the right moment, they were on their way out when Marissa spotted a bunny (a really rare kind that doesn’t come out often!), which made them stop to admire. It was in that quiet moment, just the two of them and that rate little rabbit, that Brandan got down on one knee and asked Marissa to marry him!! The bunny stayed around for the whole proposal and then RIGHT after, it scurried away. It was amazing hearing the excitement in their voices as they retold the story, and I just love that they have that incredible memory!!

Brandan and Marissa, you two are so sweet, and I am so thankful you have asked me to take these portraits for you!!! I can’t wait to see how your wedding plans come together, and hopefully, I’ll be seeing you again in 2021 ❤️
